JOB SUMMARY: The Charge Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing activities and staff function during their shift. Provides direct communication with the Director of Emergency Services. Effectively utilizes nursing personnel, time and equipment on the unit and assists the department Director in the daily operation of the unit. Perform direct patient care, within scope of practice. Continually assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting; critical care setting preferred.
3. Current BLS certificate upon hire or obtain within 30 days.
4. Current ACLS certificate or within 60 days of hire.
5. Current PALS certificate or within 90 days of hire.
6. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 9 months of hire required.
7. NIHSS within 30 days of hire.
8. Current Behavioral violence prevention certification or obtain within 30 days.
