Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the director or designee, the registered nurse provides holistic, individualized patient care in response to identified needs. The registered nurse assumes accountability for the care of Cardiac Cath Lab patients. All functions will be performed in accordance with the standards, practice acts, and licensure in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization. Employee will recognize the population specific needs of the CAD, CHF, PVD, MI, UA and Angina patients and apply the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviors to meet those needs when performing patient care activities.

 What You Will Do in This Role:

  • You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, following standards of care and disease specific protocols. 
  • You will plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies. 
  • You will provide education and emotional supportappropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance and incorporate patient/family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice. 
  • You will supervise invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures as to adherence to aseptic and sterile technique. 

 What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing required. 
  • Ability to read EKG monitors
  • Current RN license by the State of Texas of from a compact state if you declare the compact state your primary state of residence required. 
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • Current ACLS certification required
  • Current Specialty certification preferred
  • BSN degree or enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of hire
  • 2+ years of experience in an acute care setting
  • 1-2 years ICU/CCU critical care experience
  • Ability to read arrhythmias
