Description of Work

CLOSING DATE: Saturday, June 27, 2026
**This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date listed.

POSITION TYPE: Permanent, 11-month, EHRA Exempt Professional Staff (EPS), FLSA Exempt, Mandatory On-site, live-in, 1.0 FTE

NCSSM and the Student Life Division foster an environment of collaboration across departments and divisions and support community-engaged service and research.

Description of Duties:
This 11-month EHRA EPS position is a full-time, mandatory, live-in position which reports to the Dean of Students.

The RLA Coordinator position is provided an unfurnished apartment. In addition, utilities (electric, water, and local phone), internet access, and access to fitness facilities are complimentary along with three meals a day in the school cafeteria (when open).

The RLA Coordinator is responsible for the selection, training and advising of the Residential Life Assistant program. The Coordinator works with all members of the CC team to develop selection guidelines, create the application process, train, and offer ongoing support and supervision to the selected RLAs.

The specific duties of the RLA Coordinator include:
*Coordinate application process using the Senior Leadership Campus Service process, supplementary documents, and additional process requirements
*Hold interest or Q&A meetings for juniors
*Update application as needed based on feedback from Community Coordinators and existing RLAs
*Schedule and supervise all aspects of the interview process - application review, group process, interviews, and other evaluation tools
*Communicate selection to candidates
*Hold RLA draft for community coordinators, identify both selected candidates and alternates
*Maintain spreadsheet of individual and group scores for evaluations, interviews and application readings
*Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training for RLAs and Community Coordinators
*Offer training in at least three specific timeframes: spring for rising seniors, during RLA Orientation Week, and on-going on a monthly basis during their senior year
*Write, edit, and maintain the RLA Handbook and clearly communicate expectations to RLAs and Community Coordinators
*Provide support to individual RLAs throughout the year - through monthly RLA meetings; individual scheduled meetings; and in response to academic, conduct, or emotional issues that arise
*Provide training opportunities for RLAs and inform Community Coordinators about these opportunities. Some of these sessions will be required for RLAs and CCs to participate together to foster team building.

Community Coordinators serve “in loco parentis” for each student residing at NCSSM and, along with counselors, academic advisors, and parents/guardians, are an integral member of each resident’s support team. In addition, Community Coordinators are the primary point of contact for students’ families and work closely with faculty and staff members across campus to support students. Community Coordinators are responsible for building community within their designated residence hall, serve as a resource for students, their families, and support team through consistent communication, bimonthly hall updates, and participation in and visibility at campus events.

Community Coordinator responsibilities include hall management/supervision, office supervision and administrative duties, on-call duties, emergency response and incident management, hall and duty related student transportation, community and wellness programming, conflict mediation, student support, and discipline. Every CC works a rotating duty shift that provides supervision and support for students. As evening, late night, and weekend work are common and required, the position lends itself to a non-traditional schedule. Other responsibilities include departmental and campus-wide committee work, campus service supervision, and additional duties as assigned. Community Coordinators will have evening and weekend work.
*This position is designated as an emergency and mandatory on-site position for adverse/public health emergencies.
