Right of Way Specialist

Location: Newton, MA
Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Right of Way Specialist to support ongoing transmission and utility infrastructure projects in the Newton, Massachusetts area. This position will play a key role in managing right of way activities, easement negotiations, encroachment resolution, property research, and document review in support of critical infrastructure initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, a working knowledge of real estate and land rights processes, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate agreements for right of way easements on behalf of the client
  • Negotiate removal of encroachments or establish license agreements for encroachments on transmission easements or fee-owned right of way
  • Conduct desktop reviews and field verification of potential encroachments
  • Analyze, prepare, review, and interpret land and right of way-related agreements, deeds, easements, leases, permits, and licenses
  • Complete rights and restriction reviews
  • Research and review real property-related documents
  • Understand and interpret easement agreements
  • Support the translation of right of way document data into stakeholder management databases
  • Complete document and property research as needed
  • Manage and prioritize workload across multiple active projects
  • Provide support to meet evolving client needs
  • Work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; equivalent applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • Working knowledge of general real estate law
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and task tracking software
  • Ability to work with diverse teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Client-service oriented mindset with a collaborative approach
  • Ability to manage and track multiple project efforts simultaneously
  • Experience with GIS and familiarity with construction drawings preferred but not required
  • Valid driver's license required and ability to maintain company driving privileges

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting utility, transmission, or infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with easement acquisition and encroachment resolution processes
  • Knowledge of land records research and property documentation review
