Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Retail Pharmacist to oversee daily retail pharmacy operations in a healthcare setting. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and compliant pharmaceutical services, including medication procurement, storage, distribution, and patient counseling.
The Pharmacist will work under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Medication Management
Compound and dispense prescribed medications accurately
Review prescriptions for appropriateness, dosage, and potential interactions
Ensure correct formulas and ingredients are used
Oversee packaging, labeling, and dispensing processes
Patient Counseling & Customer Service
Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and storage
Provide excellent customer service both in-person and over the phone
Support patient engagement in pharmacy programs and services
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations
Maintain controlled substance security and proper disposal of hazardous drugs
Report and document medication errors and incidents
Support quality assurance and loss prevention programs
Documentation & Systems
Accurately enter patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
Maintain records, inventory, and pharmacy files
Resolve third-party billing and prescription rejection issues
Ensure proper staffing ratios in accordance with regulations
Leadership & Collaboration
Build strong relationships with physicians and healthcare teams
Assist in training pharmacy interns and staff
Promote teamwork and a positive work environment
Adapt to changing workflows and priorities
Operational & Financial Responsibilities
Support pharmacy operations to maximize efficiency and service quality
Help manage inventory and control expenses
Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the pharmacy
General Responsibilities
Maintain professionalism and strong communication with patients and staff
Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills
Utilize Microsoft Office and pharmacy systems effectively
Complete tasks accurately and efficiently
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Education & Licensure
Active California Pharmacist License required
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an accredited program
BLS Certification required
Experience & Skills
Strong knowledge of retail pharmacy regulations and compliance standards
Ability to meet continuing education requirements
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate across teams and organizational levels
