This opportunity is for experienced Specialty Pharmacists to support a leading specialty pharmacy focused on rare and orphan drugs for patients with complex, rare diseases. Working in this specialized setting requires a pharmacist who understands the unique challenges associated with these high-cost medications and can guide patients and providers through approval, payment assistance, and access programs.
Location: Glendale, AZ
Job Type: Contract (13 weeks) with potential for direct hire
Schedule: Monday through Friday, day shifts
Start Date: Immediate availability preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense and manage high-cost, rare/orphan drug therapies with precision and care
- Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and patients to navigate medication approvals, insurance authorization, grant assistance, and patient support programs
- Provide detailed clinical guidance and counseling tailored to the unique needs of specialty patients
- Maintain comprehensive documentation to ensure compliance and facilitate smooth medication access
- Offer high-touch communication to build trust and promote optimal treatment outcomes
Desired Qualifications and Experience: - Proven experience working specifically in a designated specialty pharmacy environment (retail pharmacy experience alone will not be considered)
- Strong understanding of specialty medication management including payment and access challenges
- Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills to effectively interact with providers and patients
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability
