Description
Base Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 / year based on experience + Quarterly Bonus Potential
1789 Restaurant is one of Washington DC's most storied fine dining institutions — Michelin-recognized, rooted in Georgetown, and committed to an exceptional guest experience at every cover. Clyde's Restaurant Group is seeking an experienced, polished Restaurant Manager to lead the front-of-house operation and uphold the elevated standards 1789 is known for.
This is a role for a hospitality professional who thrives on the floor, leads by example, and understands that true fine dining is about connection as much as it is about craft.
WHY JOIN THE CLYDE'S TEAM AS RESTAURANT MANAGER
100% company-funded pension — we contribute on your behalf, no match required (vests after 1 year)
401 (k) plan starting on day one
Quarterly Bonus Potential
Health coverage — medical, dental, vision, life, disability, virtual doctor visits, and wellness support
Generous PTO — vacation & sick pay, up to 8 weeks medical/family leave, plus leave for jury duty, voting, and school activities
Best-in-class training program + growth opportunities
Employee assistance — legal, financial, emotional, and work/life balance support
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A RESTAURANT MANAGER
3–5 years of dining room management experience in fine dining or white tablecloth service
Deep knowledge of steps of service, sequence of service, and elevated hospitality standards
Wine and beverage fluency; ability to support and guide sommelier-led service
Experience with tasting menus and special event / private dining coordination
Proficiency in OpenTable, POS systems (Toast preferred), and HotSchedules or comparable scheduling platforms
Strong floor presence — leads from the dining room, not the office
Exceptional guest recovery skills; calm, decisive, and solutions-oriented under pressure
Proven ability to coach, develop, and hold FOH staff accountable to service standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Hardworking, hospitality-driven, and committed to maintaining the highest standard of service at every cover
WHAT YOU WILL DO AS A RESTAURANT MANAGER
Own the dining room floor during service — greeting guests, managing flow, processing checks, and ensuring a seamless experience from reservation to farewell
Set and communicate service goals during pre-shift lineups and daily menu class
Interview, hire, train, schedule, and develop FOH team members; write and post weekly schedules
Monitor and manage cover counts, reservation pacing, and OpenTable utilization to maximize revenue and guest satisfaction
Lead guest recovery — investigate and resolve complaints promptly with professionalism and care
Coach and develop FOH staff through ongoing performance feedback, disciplinary action when appropriate, and a culture of accountability
Enforce food safety, health, and workplace safety standards
Assist with monthly inventory and cost controls
Write agendas for and facilitate departmental meetings
Attend and participate in weekly manager meetings
Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure FOH and BOH are aligned on service standards and menu knowledge
