Position Summary
We are opening an exciting new LGBT bar lounge in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood.
We are seeking a motivated and hands‐on Assistant Manager to support the set-up and pre-opening activities, planning and launch. The Assistant Manager will transition into the role of supporting daily operations of our high‐energy multi level bar and lounge. The successful candidate will work closely with the General Manager to ensure excellent guest experience, efficient staff management, compliance with liquor laws, and smooth nightly operations in a fast‐paced, high‐volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Guest Experience
- Support day‐to‐night operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Maintain a visible presence on the floor during service to ensure guest satisfaction
- Handle guest concerns and resolve issues quickly and professionally
- Ensure venue cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards are consistently met
Staff Leadership
- Supervise, motivate, and support bartenders, servers, security, and support staff
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management
- Ensure staff adherence to service standards, house policies, and responsible alcohol service
Financial & Inventory Control
- Assist with cash handling, end‐of‐night reconciliations, and loss prevention
- Monitor liquor and supply inventory; assist with ordering and stock controls
- Support labour cost management through efficient scheduling
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable liquor laws, health and safety regulations
- Enforce responsible alcohol service and crowd management policies
- Assist with incident reporting and coordination with security as required
Events & Promotions
- Support themed nights, private events, DJs/entertainment logistics, and promotions
- Assist with guest list management, reservations, and VIP coordination
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in a bar or nightclub environment
- Strong knowledge of bar operations, alcohol service, and nightlife service standards
- Proven ability to lead teams in a high‐pressure, high‐volume setting
- Excellent communication, problem‐solving, and organizational skills
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work late nights, weekends, and holidays
- Food Protection Certificate is needed or must obtained within 3 months of hiring
Preferred Assets
- Experience in nightclubs, lounges, or late‐night venues
- Familiarity with Toast POS systems and cash controls
- Crowd management or security coordination experience
