Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginias capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Respiratory Therapy Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and clinical education within the Respiratory Therapy Program while supporting student success, program development, and institutional initiatives. This full-time, 12-month faculty position teaches classroom, laboratory, and clinical courses in respiratory care, utilizing effective teaching strategies that promote student achievement of course objectives and program outcomes. Responsibilities include supervising clinical learning experiences, maintaining accurate student and clinical records, advising and mentoring students, participating in curriculum development and assessment, and collaborating with healthcare partners to ensure quality clinical experiences. Faculty are also expected to engage in professional development, serve on college and program committees, support accreditation standards, and contribute to the mission and goals of the college. Teaching assignments may include day and evening classes at multiple campus or off-campus locations, and travel to clinical affiliation sites is required.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from a USDE-recognized accredited institution
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
  • Current Virginia RRT license (or eligibility)
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience as an RRT, including at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Additional Considerations

  • Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in a CoARC-accredited program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor
  • Formal training in teaching and learning practices
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology routinely into instructional and faculty responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students.
