Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Department: 736V Respiratory Care

Assignment Details

  • Duration: 13 Weeks

  • Schedule: Variable

  • Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

  • Hours: 3x12-hour Night Shifts (36 hours/week)

Candidate Requirements

  • No local candidates within a 50-mile radius will be considered.

  • Required Certifications:

    • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)

    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions across a variety of clinical settings.

  • Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance techniques.

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and other respiratory support equipment.

  • Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpret results to assist in patient care planning.

  • Respond to emergency situations, including rapid response calls, code blue events, and airway management as part of the multidisciplinary care team.

  • Evaluate patient response to respiratory treatments and modify care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

  • Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, breathing techniques, and disease management.

  • Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Maintain respiratory equipment and ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and hospital policies.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care.
