The Critical Care Resource Nurse (CCRN) team is a unique model created using the conceptual framework of the AACN Synergy Model for patient care. The goal of the CCRN team is to help align nurse competencies with immediate patient care needs and is designed to assist the bedside nurse and providers with complex/high acuity patients needing expert monitoring or emergent intervention. The CCRN works within their scope of practice to provide clinical support in all inpatient care areas of the hospital including med surg, pediatric and maternal child health, adult and pediatric emergency departments, intensive care units, the intraprocedural platform and select onsite ambulatory care areas as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Critical Care Resource Nurse (CCRN) team is a unique model created using the conceptual framework of the AACN Synergy Model for patient care. The goal of the CCRN team is to help align nurse competencies with immediate patient care needs and is designed to assist the bedside nurse and providers with complex/high acuity patients needing expert monitoring or emergent intervention. The CCRN works within their scope of practice to provide clinical support in all inpatient care areas of the hospital including med surg, pediatric and maternal child health, adult and pediatric emergency departments, intensive care units, the intraprocedural platform and select onsite ambulatory care areas as needed.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Requires license to practice professional nursing as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Requires up to date BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENLS, NIHSS

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years of adult critical care nursing experience required
  • Candidates with additional well rounded clinical experience including but not limited to med surg, emergency nursing , pediatric/ maternal child health backgrounds preferred

Primary Responsibilities and Clinical Competencies:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to deliver patient centered care; must function at the expert level of assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating

  • Responds to and plays a pivotal role of the adult and pediatric Rapid Response, Code Blue Resuscitation, Emergency Airway Response and Code Stroke teams, in addition to the inpatient and ambulatory Proceed Out Teams

  • Leads the Early Warning Response team (EWS) to respond to sudden clinical changes in patient condition aiming to prevent clinical deterioration

  • Acts as collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team to support patients and bedside nurses and providers using evidenced based practice to ensure that patients benefits from the care delivery system

  • Responsible for completing annual mandatory educational requirements, safety training and maintains all required licensures and certifications

  • Identifies own learning needs and assumes responsibility for maintaining current knowledge, competency and nursing expertise
