Position Summary:
Assistant Director, START Resource Center provides support to persons with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental or behavioral health needs who are temporarily accessing crisis or planned stays within the START Resource Center home. This position provides support to the Resource Center Counselors in the daily routine of the home and for habilitative activities, personal care, health care and other activities. The Assistant Director participates as part of comprehensive START services that collaborate with individual’s primary provider and clinical home, community crisis services, family and others.
In addition, this position has supervisor responsibility, functioning as direct support to the Resource Center Director position. The Assistant Director position provides administrative oversight of specific program operations in collaboration with and in the absence of the Resource Center Director. The Assistant Director also shares the function with Resource Center Director as liaison between the START Clinical Team and Resource Center Counselor team.
What you'll do:
- Creates and maintains staffing schedule, which includes assigning staff shifts, assuring shifts are equally distributed and maintaining staff/guest coverage ratio.
- Oversees Resource Center Program in the absence of the Resource Center Director.
- Assists Resource Center Director in reviewing and processing all clinical documentation. Assures timely completion and accuracy of all clinical documentation by Resource Center Counselor staff. Collaborates with the START Clinical Team to ensure necessary documentation is provided on site prior to/at admission.
- Responds to employee scheduling changes and emergencies. Contacts Resource Center Counselor staff and authorizes scheduling changes (excluding PTO or Overtime approval) or arranging additional staff coverage as needed to best support program needs.
- Covers direct care shifts as needed due to staff absence from sickness, PTO requests etc.
- Functions as Hiring Manager and leads onboarding organization and training for staff.
- Collaborates with Resource Center Director in screening and interviewing Resource Center Counselor applicants.
- Ensures Resource Center Counselor staff is current on all required certifications/trainings. Assists Resource Center Director in arranging training sessions as needed for initial and re-certifications of program staff.
- Participates in daily conference calls/weekly Clinical Team meetings with Resource Center Director and NC START Central team.
- Supports Resource Center Director in collaborating with Clinical Team and families/supports/programs to arrange admissions and discharges to START Resource Center Program.
- (Assists the Resource Center Director in the ongoing evaluation of program operations and processes. Provides recommendations and supports the implementation of quality‑improvement initiatives, with approval from the Resource Center Director.)
- Participates in an on-call rotation that consists of being available for telephone or in-person support to Resource Center Counselors. On call rotation requires a 7 day, 24 hours a day availability.
- Notifies Resource Center Director of facility maintenance issues and contacts contractors to make repairs.
- Participate in community outreach as needed for prospective guests and employee recruitment as needed

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an approved, accredited institution and one year service.
- Direct support experience with both developmental disabilities and mental health populations preferred.
- Experience with crisis prevention and intervention services preferred.
- Maintain valid, unrestricted, state-appropriate driver’s license and insurance for personal vehicles utilized for work.
