JOB SUMMARY

The Residential Support Worker is responsible for weekend and evening coverage. Establishes and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment for supervised residential client services and implements appropriate client services that are consistent with the client Master Treatment Plans.

JOB DUTIES

  • Provide assistance to counselors as needed.
  • This program operates 24/7 and requires continuous coverage — flexibility for other shifts, holidays, or emergency coverage may be necessary.
  • Supervise and monitor clients and facility to ensure safety.
  • Use sound judgment to follow procedures for medical, psychiatric, and life safety emergencies.
  • Monitor self-medication procedures and report issues to nurse and Residential Lead Worker.
  • Consult with Lead Worker about clinical behaviors or operational concerns.
  • Instruct clients on meal preparation and service based on the residential menu.
  • Assist with chore/laundry schedules and provide training.
  • Facilitate daily living skills activities including fire drills and safety training.
  • Supervise clients on field trips, outings, etc. as assigned.
  • Monitor phones, visitors, and supplies to maintain facility safety.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation timely and neatly.
  • Attend staff meetings and supervision as scheduled.
  • Secure the facility at shift end by locking windows/doors and shutting off utilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation (mileage will be monitored and may be reimbursable based on company policy).
  • Experience in a residential setting preferred.
  • Basic cooking and housekeeping skills.
  • Good verbal and documentation skills.
  • Must be measurable or trainable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Patience, sensitivity to client needs, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be capable of accessing buildings that are not handicap accessible.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is normally performed in an interior/office setting.
  • Moderate physical activity may include lifting 25–50 lbs.
  • May require extended periods of standing or walking.
  • Minimal exposure to physical risk.

Occupational Risk for Exposure to TB:

There is an occupational risk for exposure to TB, as this position involves extensive community and patient contact. Employees in this role are required to comply with annual TB testing as part of workplace health and safety protocols. The only acceptable exceptions to this requirement are documented medical contraindications or religious objections. Employees who decline TB testing will be required to wear a mask when deemed necessary.
