Role summary
Serve as the primary on-floor sales representative for Mayer Lighting Showroom
Advise customers on product selection and lighting solutions for residential projects and small commercial projects
Convert leads into sales and maintain strong customer relationships
Represent the showroom at industry events and in community outreach
Key responsibilities
Greet customers, handle incoming calls, and manage on-floor traffic professionally
Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate products, including high-ticket items (comfortable selling $5,000 chandeliers)
Educate homeowners, designers, architects, and contractors on product features, finishes, and installation considerations
Develop and nurture relationships to generate repeat business and referrals
Perform outbound prospecting and cold calling to generate new leads
Attend and represent the showroom at trade and community events
Meet or exceed individual sales goals and contribute to showroom KPIs
Maintain organized customer records and a reliable follow-up process
Stay current on product lines, trends, and competitor offerings
Required qualifications & attributes
College graduate OR 35 years of sales experience (retail or field experience preferred)
Proven track record in salesexperience with high-end / luxury product sales a strong plus
Customer-centric mindset with friendly, professional demeanor
High energy level and self-motivated; comfortable as primary on-floor representative
Comfortable selling high-value items (e.g., $5,000 chandeliers)
Coachable attitude with willingness to learn and accept feedback
Reliable, documented work history
Helpful skills & experience
Retail sales and/or customer-service background
Experience engaging with designers, architects, or contractors
Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
Basic technical knowledge of lighting products and terminology
Ability to multitask in a busy showroom environment
Familiarity with CRM tools or point-of-sale systems is a plus
