Job Responsibilities

This is a 12-month live-in position which includes room and board. Residency required in agency provided housing when students are in session.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Directors of Student Services this position will:

  • Provide immediate oversight, counseling and guidance to promote holistic student development for all students attending the South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities, which includes the residential high school and the summer programs.
  • Collect, maintain and disseminate student data to identify challenges and develop intervention strategies and action plans to ensure student success. Ensure students health and wellness needs are met by developing and implementing student care plans in conjunction with campus colleagues.
  • Develop and implement a student life curriculum and activities to include instructional goals, educational programming, and recreational events.
  • Communicate in a regular and timely manner with the Vice President of Student Affairs, Dean of Students and the Assistant Directors, concerning incidents, problems, and progress.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, programs and other activities. Review the conditions of residential life facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in orientation activities for new students, as well as check-in and check-out for all residence hall occupants and room inventories.
  • Assist with appropriate room assignments. Serve as a liaison with parents, prospective parents, prospective students, and the general public.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelors degree and experience in Student, Human or Social Service Programs.

  • Applicant must be able to identify, develop, and implement programs and activities that will benefit the campus community.
  • Must be able to supervise and evaluate personnel.
  • Must be able to hear, speak audibly, walk, and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to work variable hours and shifts, including 2-3 weekends per month.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in student service affairs or related field, with 3-5 years of experience.
