DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION
Residence and Gate Monitors are non-sworn civilian members of the university police department. The mission of the police department is to provide a safe, secure and healthy living environment for students that enhance learning and development through community service, quality programming and academic support.

SUMMARY
The Residence Hall Monitor (RSM) position consists of working an 8 hour information desk in the residence halls under the supervision of the Dillard University Police Department. The Residence Hall Monitor is charged with ensuring the safety of all residents of a designated hall or apartment area by monitoring and controlling the flow of residents, visitors, staff and guests in and out of the residence halls. The RSM is responsible for making sure all rules and regulations are followed and assisting with fire drills and investigating false alarms. The RSM must maintain a good working relationship with the Office of Residential Life and student staff members. General work responsibilities include answering the phone, submitting work order requests and performing other customer service duties.
The Gate Monitor position consist of working 8 hours at the campus main entry gate to check ID's of persons attempting to enter the campus after 7:00pm. If he/she is not a current Dillard faculty, staff or student they will not be granted access. The gate monitor is charged with ensuring the safety of the campus by monitoring and controlling the flow of traffic coming onto campus.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience at institutions of higher learning desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, parents, students, faculty, staff and other members of the University community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with fundamental mathematical concepts.

Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee must maintain confidentiality in all work performed. Must be flexible in work schedule. Must be willing to work evening or weekends for special events, crisis response, and/or opening and closing of hall. Must be willing to participate on an on-call duty rotation cycle during breaks and university closures. Must pass a background check performed by Human Resources.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
These positions work 40 hours/week on an 8 hour/5 day a week schedule during the academic year. You will be required to work between the hours of 10:00pm and 6:00am with weekdays and weekends flexibility. This position is benefits eligible.

Must pass a detailed background investigation and drug screen test. Must not have any arrests or convictions which prohibit accessing N.C.I.C./LLETS or NOPD M.O.T.I.O.N. computer systems.
