Introduction

As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

The Supervisor will provide direct management of the planning, coordination, implementation, and administration of the Workforce and Technology Center (WTC) Residential and Enrichment Services which contributes to the agencyâs mission of promoting independence and employment of individuals with disabilities. They will provide direct supervision to staff within the Residential and Enrichment Services to ensure the delivery of quality services which are consistent and in accordance with the agencyâs mission. The Residential & Enrichment Services Supervisor will establish policies related to consumers residing in the dormitory and participating in enrichment activities; implement and evaluate processes related to safety, emergency responses, rules and expectations of consumers, and staff protocol; oversee and manage the financial resources for the WTC Residential and Enrichment Services; plan, coordinate, and evaluate the work of subordinate supervisors and other staff members; and manage the operations of the WTC after core operating hours by functioning as the evening administrator of the Center assuring the consistent and effective operation of the Center.

The Supervisor will be mainly responsible for working the evening shift, Sunday â Thursday, 3:00pm â 11:30pm, but may be required to work other shifts as needed. This position is not eligible for telework. This position is Emergency Essential.Â

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage, direct, coordinate, and monitor the operations of the WTC Residential and Enrichment Services
  • Provide leadership and technical assistance to staff to ensure that students needs are met
  • Develop, modify, implement, and evaluate program policies and procedures
  • Monitor and assess staff performance
  • Assure records of service reflect timely, accurate, and complete information associated with student progress. Work collaboratively with Center staff regarding student progress, behaviors, and outcomes
  • Manage, coordinate, and monitor the WTC operation after core hours
  • Serve on agency Emergency Response Team in accordance with agency policies and continuity of operations (COOP)
  • Provide leadership and technical support to staff during emergency situations
  • Serve as liaison and communicate with Center administration during emergency situations and critical issues involving WTC Operations and student behaviors
  • Oversee and manage the financial resources for the WTC Residential and Enrichment Services department

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Masterâs degree or at least 36 hours of equivalent post-baccalaureate course work from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of administrative, teaching or rehabilitation work in education, or rehabilitation programs.

  1. Candidates may substitute two additional years of experience as described above for the required education.Â

  2. The above requirements are set by the Maryland State Department of Education in accordance with Education Article, Section 2-104, Annotated Code of Maryland.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • Experience providing guidance and counseling and managing behaviors with individuals with significant disabilities.
  • Experience supervising staff and/or managing projects.
