Stantec's Water practice is looking for a highly motivated Resident Engineer with large water and wastewater project experience in the Central Valley and Bakersfield/Fresno, California area. These projects consist of conveyance projects including water pipelines; sitework for municipal water and wastewater facilities; sewer lines; and infrastructure systems including treatment plants, pump stations, and related infrastructure.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the technical supervision for the construction phase of projects.

  • Responsible for supervising Stantec staff, including development of Management plans, tracking career progress, mentoring, advocating for and approving timesheets and training/development requests.

  • Manage inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients' requirements.

  • Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors' Requests for Information (RFIs) and review of submittals/shop drawings.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact on assigned construction contracts, with primary responsibility for construction contract administration and quality management.

  • Responsible for overall site safety, permit status compliance and coordination with other agencies.

  • Familiarity with construction procedures and scheduling of work sequences. Should be familiar with dewatering, backfilling and compaction of utility trenches, pavement/surface restoration, architectural and structural construction.

  • Provide technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality.

  • Manage office staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.

  • Monitor Contractor performance, quality, schedule, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness.

  • Exert influence over and maintain excellent relationships with Contractors to maintain project goals.

  • Manage the Contractor monthly payment process and recommend appropriate adjustments as necessary to manage the Contractor.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Be able to manage multi-discipline design teams, with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task.

  • Outstanding record of successful Water Projects – Thorough knowledge of industry codes to ensure compliance of federal and state regulations, understanding of new technologies and cutting-edge methods.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • OSHA training/certification and Confined Space Entry certification beneficial (or will train, if needed for an assignment).

  • Must have good driving record and a valid driver's license.

  • Required software applications include Adobe, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel and Word. AutoCAD experience beneficial but not required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience on projects showing increasing responsibility.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years in a construction management role of water and wastewater related projects.

  • Registered Professional Engineer in CA or ability to become registered within one year.

  • CCM is preferred.

  • Position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.

Pay Range:

• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$117,800.00 - $176,800.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
