PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Provide coverage for Jakes Place during business and non-business hours, interacting directly with clients of Jakes Place.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have high school diploma or equivalent GED. Demonstrates leadership and authority. Demonstrates stability, self-control, and ability to work under indirect supervision. Knowledge of alcoholism and drug abuse preferred. A period of one year sobriety will be required for recovering individuals. Ability to work with people from various socio/ethnic/cultural backgrounds. Cultural knowledge of Native Alaskans/American Indians preferred. Must be able to complete requirements to receive a food handler certificate within two months of hire. Valid Alaska Drivers License. Ability to maintain confidentiality is required for this position. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span (e.g., pediatric/adult/geriatric), possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the assigned units policies and procedures, and/or participate in training to develop these skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a facility with the usual amounts of light. Must be able to see, hear, speak, walk, sit, bend, kneel, and lift up to 40 pounds with or without accommodation. Will be the only staff member on duty during this shift.
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS
Will not engage in an intimate relationship with a client of Jakes Place as long as he/she is a client of the program. Intimate relationships defined as boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, including sexual contact. Regular contact with people who speak English as a second language. Must be tolerant of a wide variety of people and their sometimes unpredictable behavior.
