Hourly pay rate by voucherJob Goal:The Residency Verification Officer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and validity of student residency within the Paramus Public School District. This role involves investigating and verifying student addresses, maintaining detailed records, and collaborating with various departments and external agencies as needed. The position is crucial in upholding district policies regarding student enrollment and attendance.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in an administrative, investigative, or compliance role.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers, cellphones and various software applications, including database management.
  • Knowledge of local laws and regulations related to student residency is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Residency Verification: Conduct thorough investigations to verify student residency using various methods including documentation review, home visits, and database checks.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of residency verification processes, including documentation submitted and investigative findings.
  • Documentation Review: Examine and evaluate residency documentation such as lease agreements, utility bills, and other legal documents to confirm eligibility.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, school staff, and external agencies regarding residency requirements and verification procedures.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with district policies and state regulations related to student enrollment and residency.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with school registrars, administrators, attendance officers, homeless liaison and other district personnel to resolve residency issues.
  • Data Management: Utilize and maintain databases and software systems for tracking and reporting on residency verification activities.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports on residency verification findings and trends to the Paramus Board of Education. Attend residency hearings as required.
  • Training: Provide training to school staff on residency verification policies and procedures.
  • Multi-tasks effectively, ensuring timely completion of assignments and meeting deadlines.
  • Proactively learns and applies new skills through professional development, in-office training, or team meetings.
  • Drafts and types communications, email correspondence, forms, and reports with accuracy.
  • Maintains the supervisor's calendar, schedules appointments, and manages meeting logistics.
  • Assists with staff observation scheduling and ensures relevant dates, meetings, and deadlines are updated on the supervisor's calendar.
  • Greets visitors, staff, and stakeholders, responding to inquiries or directing them appropriately.
  • Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality regarding student, parent, and staff information.
  • Takes initiative in office organization and management, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Establishes, maintains, and updates office records and filing systems.
  • Attends staff development sessions to increase proficiency and efficiency in job responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Services and Director of Student Personnel Services.

Reports to:School Business Administrator or DesigneeSalary:$45.00 per hour

Work-related travel shall be reimbursed for mileage at the rate established annually by the New Jersey Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Application:
