JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is responsible for the oversight and development of a residential community designed to support students as they continue their transition through college. The RLC fosters a supportive and educational living environment that promotes student engagement, belonging, and academic success. This role collaborates closely with student leaders, campus partners, and professional staff to support students personal and community development in alignment with the mission and values of Newberry College.
This position is a 12-month, live-in position; a two-bedroom apartment, utilities and internet included. On-call responsibilities required during the week and on holidays on a rotating basis. This is a salaried position. While the standard is about 37.5 hours per week, the nature of the role sometimes requires unpredictable workweeks, including nights and weekends. Some weeks require more than 40 hours. This position requires evening and weekend hours. The nature of this position requires that the RLC live on campus in a furnished, assigned house/apartment located within or near the area of responsibility.

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field preferred; bachelor's degree required. Experience in residence life, student affairs, or related fields. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. Crisis management and conflict resolution skills. Understanding of developmental needs and challenges specific to second-year college students.
