Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Specialist (Research Engineering Manager) for the Civil & Environmental Engineer department. The department has recently been awarded several projects related to advanced cementitious materials and is seeking a professional with extensive expertise in both laboratory and field work who can synthesize research results and translate findings into practical testing and analysis procedures.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Plays a key role in coordinating resources, executing projects, and managing laboratory and fieldwork effectively.
  • Provides technical leadership and operational oversight across multiple sponsored research projects.
  • Supervises research personnel to ensure compliance, quality, and timely delivery of project outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field along with 2 years of field and research engineering experience. The experience must be related with overseeing laboratory operations, coordinating research projects, and guiding research staff to ensure high-quality, compliant, and timely execution of experimental studies.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • 4 years of related field and research experience and 2+ years of research engineer experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification and EIT.

Equipment Utilized

  • ASTM and AASHTO laboratory testing.
  • Structural Health Monitoring management.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position involves physical demands associated with managing various concrete- and field-related works.
