As a Research Operations Producer II (Contractor) you will work with the GRO team as the first dedicated owner of player recruiting operations for playtests and qualitative research studies. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role with meaningful ownership and autonomy, designed to stabilize and mature recruiting workflows that are currently distributed across multiple operations staff.

You will manage end-to-end recruiting delivery while helping define standards, documentation, and quality signals that enable consistency at scale. This role supports both in-person and remote studies and works closely with researchers, operations partners, and external vendors. This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence at the Los Angeles campus 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end participant recruiting for playtests and qualitative research studies, including intake alignment, feasibility assessment, scheduling, confirmations, and show-rate management
  • Manage player communications at scale, ensuring clear, consistent, and player-friendly outreach and follow-ups
  • Support screener development and sampling strategies in partnership with researchers and ops leads to meet study criteria and quotas
  • Apply sound judgment to reduce bias in screening and sourcing decisions while executing recruiting plans that meet study criteria
  • Coordinate participant scheduling, attendance tracking, replacements, and incentive processing
  • Maintain and manage player databases, participation history, and ban lists to support quality, reduce oversampling, and mitigate participant fatigue
  • Partner with external recruiting and rescreening vendors to ensure execution quality and timeline adherence
  • Track recruiting health signals such as no-show rates, replacement rates, recruiting cycle time, and recruitment efficiency to inform day-to-day delivery decisions
  • Identify recurring recruiting issues and implement pragmatic process improvements
  • Own initial problem-solving for recruiting risks, escalating with context, options, and recommendations to researchers and operations teammates as needed
  • Create and maintain recruiting documentation, templates, and standard operating procedures that support consistency and reduce rework
  • Operate with strong judgment around data handling, privacy, and compliance expectations
  • Collaborate closely with operations and research teams to flag risks early and keep studies on track

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in research operations, user research, participant recruiting, or a closely related research support role
  • Demonstrated experience owning recruiting logistics independently across multiple concurrent studies
  • Strong working knowledge of qualitative research recruiting practices, including screening, quota management, and participant quality controls
  • Experience managing participant communications, scheduling, and incentive workflows with high attention to detail
  • Experience applying research quality principles in recruiting workflows, with attention to sampling needs, panel health, participant quality, and data integrity
  • Experience working with audience definitions, incidence rates, and core recruiting principles to support feasible and efficient study recruiting
  • Experience working with third-party recruiting or rescreening vendors
  • Familiarity with survey sampling concepts and quantitative research or social science methods as they relate to participant recruiting and screening
  • Comfort partnering with researchers, operations staff, and vendors in fast-paced, delivery-focused environments
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities
  • Ability to operate with discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive participant data
  • Exposure to research compliance and privacy standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, informed consent, opt-out mechanics)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with project management frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Agile), and real-world experience applying them in collaborative, delivery-focused environments
  • Experience working with project management and productivity tools (e.g., Notion, JIRA, Trello, Miro, Airtable), and real-world experience leveraging them in a collaborative team setting
  • Experience working with quantitative research tools and survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Sawtooth, UserTesting, UserInterviews) to support recruiting and screening workflows
  • Experience working with databases, CRM, or participant management systems for recruiting workflows
  • Experience working with HTML-based email templates to support recruiting and participant communications
  • Experience supporting SMS-based participant communications as part of recruiting or reminder workflows
  • Experience thriving as a self-starter in fast-paced work environments, with the ability to ramp up quickly
  • Experience working in the video game industry
  • Experience working in player-focused research environments
  • Familiarity with games and player communities
  • Familiarity with game design fundamentals
  • Familiarity with game development production cycle

For this role, you'll find success through operational ownership, attention to detail, and proactive collaboration, paired with a strong sense of player empathy. The strongest candidates will be comfortable running recruiting independently while communicating clearly with partners, identifying risks early, and continuously improving how recruiting is executed. An ability to balance hands-on delivery with light process building will set you up for success in this first-of-its-kind recruiting role working with GRO, where protecting player trust and experience is as important as operational efficiency.
