Assistive Technology SpecialistJob details Job typeFull time (M-F); In-person (no remote/hybrid) Pay$75,000 to $90,000 (based on experience) LocationBrooklyn, NYApply NowDescription The Assistive Technology Specialist will provide comprehensive and professional assistive technology services as it relates to augmentative and alternative communication, computer access and environmental control to people with ALS, their families, and caregivers of pediatric populations with traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Please send a resume and cover letter to Jobs@ibrainnyc.org Responsibilities Responsible for assessing the communication and computer access needs of those diagnosed with TBI Evaluating a student's functional status/performance using validated standardized assessment tools on eval, quarterly and as needs basis reflecting current knowledge of visual impairments and child development; able to communicate results effectively in bDesign and implements interventions that reflect knowledge of child development and specialized techniques appropriate for students with brain injury and brain-based disordersPlanning treatment and successfully modifying POC as needed based on standardized assessments and evidence based as well as data driven treatment outcomesPrepare and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEP's) in a timely mannerCoordinating treatment strategies with the interdisciplinary student teamProviding instruction and education to patient, family, and caregivers to improve quality of care and enhance student outcomes Participating in multidisciplinary patient care conferences and team meetingsProviding accurate, timely documentation of treatment (session notes), weekly and quarterly reports, any/all student-care specific forms Participating in appropriate, approved educational and clinical research activitiesCollaborate within a multi-disciplinary/inter-disciplinary team including each student's special education teacher and therapy team of speech therapists, occupational therapists, deaf/heard of hearing, physical therapists, music therapists, nursing, reseaPrepare and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEP's) in a timely mannerCollaborate with parents as necessary and involve them in their child's activities and progress on a regular basisUtilize a multi-sensory approach incorporating art, music and technology to design lessons/treatment plans to increase students' communication, social, and life skillsMust attend and demonstrate active participation in all mandatory trainingsAssist in developing and implementing educational modules for staff in-services and accrediting bodies, including IACET (International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training).
