Major/Essential Functions

  • The main focus of this position is the assembly of HGCAL modules in a clean room environment. This includes operating a robotic gantry system, gluing PCBs and silicon together, and handling very delicate electronics, requiring steady hands and precision. This is a key responsibility for the next three years.
  • Engage in system-level engineering and provide direction to the team.
  • Participate in group efforts related to problem analysis, design discussions, reviews, and system integration.
  • Train students in the safe use of equipment and processes, such as machine shop operations.
  • Monitor stock levels of materials needed for equipment repair and module construction, and reorder as necessary.
  • Perform hands-on fabrication, assembly, and testing of detector components. 
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment used in module assembly and testing.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years experience; or a combination of education and/or related experience to equal six years.

This position is designated as involving access to critical infrastructure systems and/or research, as defined by Texas Executive Order GA-48. As such, candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. Employees are required to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations related to the protection of critical infrastructure. Ongoing employment is dependent upon maintaining eligibility for access and successfully passing periodic security and compliance reviews.
