Research - Human Subjects Research Assistant II

Location: Redmond, Washington (Onsite)

Employment Type: Contract



Role Overview

Our organization is exploring, innovating, and designing novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a motivated Research Assistant to join our team and support human subject research studies. The chosen candidate will work with a diverse and interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting-edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.



Key Responsibilities

  • Stage, set up, and manage equipment and lab spaces for experiments.
  • Conduct experiments, including collecting informed consent, running protocols, handling confidential data, data annotation, and creating basic reports.
  • Conduct literature reviews on a wide field of research topics.
  • Assist with recruiting and scheduling experiment participants.
  • Help with experimental design, documentation, and provide feedback during design.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in the field of psychology (e.g., neuroscience), cognitive science (e.g., artificial intelligence), computer science (e.g., human-computer interaction), engineering (e.g., human-factors), or a closely related research area is required.


Experience: 3 years of experience is required.


Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and personal management skills are necessary.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing data and/or designing research protocols.
  • Experience collecting user interaction data and working with related technical equipment (e.g., inertial sensing with IMUs, optical sensing, EMG).
  • 1+ years of experience working in a research environment involving human subjects.

Essential Physical Functions

  • Ability to wear a precision wearable data-collection device on the hand and forearm for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain sustained manual dexterity and fine-motor control while wearing the device.
  • Fit within these hand size measurements: Minimum hand breadth of 95 mm (measured across the knuckles with fingers extended flat) and minimum hand length of 195 mm (wrist crease to tip of middle finger).
