Responsibilities

Polymer & Organic Synthesis
  • Perform hands-on polymer and/or organic synthesis of monomers, oligomers, and polymers at the laboratory scale (typically 100 mL–20 L), following established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Support the development and optimization of synthetic routes, including reaction setup, monitoring, work-up, purification, and yield/quality assessment.
  • Prepare and handle reagents, solutions, and formulations used in electronics applications.
  • Manage the full scope of workstream activities, including raw material ordering, logistics, shipping, laboratory housekeeping, and documentation.
Analytical Characterization
  • Operate and maintain analytical instruments including GPC, HPLC, UPLC, NMR, and related chromatography tools; perform routine calibrations and basic troubleshooting.
  • Conduct additional testing and characterization as needed, including GC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, thermal analysis, titrations, solids content, and viscosity measurements to support material qualification and process development.
  • Analyze experimental data, summarize results in a clear and organized manner, and communicate findings to project leaders in a timely fashion.
Laboratory Operations, Documentation & Safety
  • Follow written procedures, batch records, and test methods with a high degree of accuracy, repeatability, and attention to detail.
  • Document experimental plans, raw data, observations, and conclusions in electronic laboratory notebooks and technical reports.
  • Assist with method development, validation, and preparation of technical documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment while adhering to all EHS policies and procedures.
Collaboration & Cross-Training
  • Collaborate closely with R&D chemists, engineers, and analytical scientists to support project objectives and timelines.
  • Assist with sample preparation, testing campaigns, and other laboratory activities as needed.
  • Cross-train in additional workstreams, including filtration, formulation, dry lab, and fabrication (Fab) processes, as business needs evolve.
  • Participate in team meetings, share results, and contribute to experimental planning and project discussions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline. (Ph.D. candidates will not be considered.)
  • Hands-on experience in organic and/or polymer synthesis, gained through academic research or industrial experience, including reaction setup, solution preparation, and purification techniques.
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation such as GPC, NMR, and at least one of the following: HPLC or UPLC. Candidates with demonstrated aptitude and ability to quickly learn analytical techniques will also be considered.
  • Experience working in a wet chemistry laboratory environment, including the safe handling of chemicals, solvents, and laboratory equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures consistently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities under the guidance of senior staff.
