**Job Description** **The Department of Neurology has an outstanding opportunity for 50% FTE Research Coordinator 2.** The salary information provided below is for a full-time position and will be prorated for this part-time, 50% FTE opportunity. **About This Opportunity:** Reporting to the Principal Investigator the Research Coordinator will be responsible for actively managing and conducting several funded human subject clinical projects and industry-sponsored clinical trials focused on the understanding and treatment of epilepsy. This 50% FTE position is specific to the UW Regional Epilepsy Center at Harborview Medical Center (UWREC), a national leader in research and clinical care for people with epilepsy. The current position is for a new Research Coordinator to join the UWREC clinical research team in the Department of Neurology, which includes other research coordinators and a team of psychologists and physicians who serve as Principal Investigators for the studies. The position requires daily interaction with patients, sponsors, physicians, and other health care personnel, including nurses and patient care coordinators. Several projects are in progress simultaneously, with the expectation of additional projects in the future. Duties include but are not limited to the following: **Key Responsibilities:** Patient Management (30%) + Help recruit and oversee recruitment of human subjects according to study protocols + Assist in scheduling appointments, ordering tests and procedures to facilitate protocol adherence, billing compliance, and to ensure accurate and reliable data collection. + Assist in monitoring patients and interact closely with clinical providers to ensure patient safety and protocol adherence. + Communicate with outside physicians who refer patients to UWREC for clinical trials. Protocol Development and Management (20%) + Design, develop, document and maintain policies and procedures for patient registration and protocol implementation to ensure that research execution meets Good Clinical Practice guidelines. + Help create Informed Consent documents that meet institutional guidelines and satisfy Institutional Review Board requirements. + Coordinate and implement data collection including in coordination with other institutions + Prepare and submit regulatory reports Study Implementation (20%) + Coordinate implementation of study procedures + Perform some sample collection, processing, and routing + Administer some simple bed-side cognitive tests or questionnaires. Study Related Budget Compliance (15%) + Communicate with investigators and research staff when financial milestones have been met. + Monitor clinical trial budget and billing plan for patients enrolled on clinical trials. + Work with internal partners to ensure clinical trials are performed in accordance with institutional requirements for billing compliance. + Assist in financial audits as necessary. Study Start-up and Amendments to Implement Studies (15%) + Coordinate with sponsors and UW groups to initiate clinical trials and trial amendments. + Coordinate, help develop and implement study budget plans for new studies. + Work with multiple UW groups (e.g. Grant and Contract Services, Clinical Trials Office, Human Subjects Review Committee, Environmental Health and Safety, Clinical Research Budget and Billing) to ensure timely implementation of each research project. **Required Qualifications** To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below.
