The Research Associate is affiliated with the Skills for the Future and Business Excellence (SABE) group in the ETS Research Institute. This role involves assisting with and contributing to ETS assessments and research services globally.

The role involves supporting and contributing to research in higher education and workforce-related topics, collecting and analyzing data, contributing to reports and presentations, and coordinating research-related activities and procedures. The Research Associate provides independent technical support to research projects with minimal guidance from senior staff, supports the coordination and execution of the scope of work of research projects, participates in coordinating staff efforts across multiple roles (e.g., research assistants, scientists, data analysts, engineers, program administrators, directors, etc.), and contributes as a co-author to presentations or publications.

Functional/Technical

  • Perform research tasks in collaboration with other project team members, including data collection, coding, and analysis
  • Apply and integrate new technologies and AI to innovate and better support research

  • Support the design and development of AI-supported assessment prototypes of skills and other constructs

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, synthesize and interpret results, and design and prepare charts, tables, figures, and graphics for reports and presentations

  • Collaborate with educators and stakeholders through co-design sessions to ensure usability and classroom relevance of assessment tools

  • Demonstrate flexibility and initiative in learning new tools, methodologies, and techniques to advance research initiatives

Project Management
  • Coordinate all phases of research projects (e.g., recruitment, contract tracking, interview protocol development, coding, analysis) and monitor project workflow.
  • Coordinate work with other partners and organizations.
  • Develop and/or monitor project budgets and work plans for various project phases.
  • Monitor and oversee interactions with other ETS units, external collaborators, research data collection sites, and participants.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, research materials, and progress reports.
  • Contribute to presentation decks, research reports, manuscripts, and other deliverables for internal and external stakeholders

Required Experience:

Required Education Requirements

A Masters degree is required; A MS in Industrial-Organizational Psychology is preferred; a MS in Education, Psychology, Psychometrics, or a related field will also be considered.

Required Skills

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of educational or workforce assessments and related research.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders, including educators, researchers, and technology developers.

  • Experience in contributing to research in educational or workforce assessments.

  • Experience in coordinating research projects.

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, including but not limited to descriptive analysis, correlational analysis, and linear models (ANOVA and regression), using related software, such as R or Python

  • Strong collaborative skills with evidence to work effectively in teams

  • Strong time management and critical thinking skills

  • The base salary range advertised represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
