Heluna Health and the Occupational Health Branch (OHB) of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) are recruiting for a Research Associate II (100% FTE) to assist the Occupational Health Branch with silicosis surveillance data collection, processing and presentation.
The OHB Occupational Health Tracking Unit (OHTU) conducts public health surveillance of occupational respiratory disease statewide, including for silicosis. The Research Associate II will join the team under the general supervision of the Chief of OHTU. The Research Associate II will collaborate with other staff members to support surveillance efforts, as well as other tasks aimed at silicosis prevention.
The Research Associate II’s duties include processing data from a variety of electronic data sources to document silicosis cases and assisting with public health follow-up, including conducting telephone interviews, processing interview data, and requesting and abstracting medical records. The Research Associate II also enters standardized data, conducts quality control and other data management and processing, and helps to prepare data for presentations such as in graphs and tables. Duties also include contributing to efforts to inventory and confirm countertop fabrication operations statewide, and performing any other duties required to collaborate with and support the silicosis team.
This position is funded through 6/30/2028.
The hourly range for this position is $36.14 to $39.00 per hour depending on experience/ qualifications.

This is currently a remote/hybrid position which requires some in-person work at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Richmond, CA.
This position may be required to travel up to 5% for in-person meetings. Supervisor/leadership will determine work schedule. Must have functioning internet access at remote location.
