The Alt Lab is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual for a Research Assistant III role. Our Alt lab investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying V(D)J recombination, class switch recombination, and somatic hypermutation in developing and activated B lymphocytes. We apply these insights to generate mouse models that support HIV-1 research, vaccine development, and antibody-based therapies. This role combines hands-on experimental work with technical expertise, regulatory compliance, and leadership responsibilities, including management of lab operations, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining adherence to institutional protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Perform advanced embryo manipulation techniques, including microinjection of pre-implantation embryos with mouse stem cells and aseptic surgical transfer to the uterus or oviduct.

- Maintenance of mouse colonies, including specialized care for immunodeficient models.
- Troubleshoots procedures if experimental results are unexpected or quality of specimens is poor.
- Independently decides which techniques may be appropriate for specific experimental investigations and carries out those experiments with minimal supervision or independently.
- Critically evaluates experimental results independently and provides summaries or interpretation of results to PI.
