- Perform laboratory research activities including sample processing, assay execution, and data collection.
- Conduct molecular and biochemical techniques such as Western blotting, RT PCR, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry.
- Maintain accurate experimental records, data logs, and inventories in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices.
- Perform data entry in a timely and accurate manner and assist with basic data organization and analysis.
- Prepare reagents, buffers, and laboratory materials according to established protocols.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, equipment organization, and supply inventory.
- Assist with preparation of technical reports, summaries, figures, and protocol
documentation.
- Create and communicate detailed experimental observations to senior staff.
- Support coordination of sample tracking between animal studies and laboratory
analyses.
- Participate in required training and safety programs related to laboratory research.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor

HJF is seeking a Research Assistant I to perform research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects. The Research Assistant provides laboratory and technical support to senior technical and professional staff and solves less complex problems in carrying out research projects in a laboratory environment. This is the first of four levels within the Research Assistant series.
This position will be in support of Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland, Department of Surgery, Battlefield Shock and Organ Support (BSOS).
