Summary
The Release of Information Senior receives, analyzes and processes incoming requests for distribution of Moffitt patient medical records in a timely manner, including the gathering of accurate information necessary to verify the validity of the request to ensure the proper authorization to release has been received. Requests are then sent securely to various healthcare providers or entities for the provision and coordination of health care services. This position is responsible for sorting and facilitating requests received in-person, or via telephone, email or fax, enters requests into the ROI systems and is responsible for explaining forms, processes and answering any questions from the requesters. All steps in the Release of Information process are conducted in a manner that ensures and promotes patients' rights to the privacy of their protected health information and that complies with all regulatory requirements, institutional policies, Federal and State laws.
Provides coverage for all areas of Release of Information, including Patient-Facing locations. Processes PACS Radiology Imaging requests at Patient-Facing locations and maintains expertise in the processes of releasing medical records for all release requests.
In addition to assisting with the training of new hires, and cross-training within the department, this position supports the ROI team with on-going training, research, problem solving and analysis, assists with escalation issues and sensitive situations, while working to mitigate any risks from the release of records for complex requests.
The Release of Information Senior provides daily support to the ROI Supervisor by monitoring task queues, workflows, maintaining updated training tools and job aides, and helping to coordinate schedules. Works independently, with minimum supervision, handling diverse situations, and acts as a liaison with internal Moffitt departments.
