The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections has an opening for a Rehabilitation Supervisor at our Lewiston, ID facility.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Staff supervision. Typical responsibilities: participates in staff selection; orients and trains staff and evaluates performance; establishes work schedules and monitors completion of assignments; interprets, explains, and enforces policies and procedures; resolves staff problems and counsels employees.
Treatment. Typical responsibilities: coordinates implementation of treatment strategies developed by treatment team and insures delivery of rehabilitative services; schedules and chairs team meetings; participates in developing treatment strategies; coordinates training sessions conducted by subordinate staff; monitors documentation of treatment services to insure completeness and accuracy; acts as a role model for appropriate conduct and decision-making; encourages and motivates juveniles; implements intervention techniques and facilitates problem-solving sessions with juveniles; may provide individual and group counseling.
Juvenile security. Typical responsibilities: supervises juveniles to insure compliance with policies and procedures, to protect individual rights, and maintain security; intervenes in confrontations between juveniles; provides first aid; reports accidents, changes in health, or other emergencies; transports offenders to other facilities, outside appointments, work or community service activities; may assist in searches for runaways.
Unit operation. Typical responsibilities: directs planning and implementation of free time and special living unit activities; coordinates activities with other organizational units; evaluates unit for cleanliness, safety, and security; authorizes and arranges for living unit supplies and personal items for juveniles; investigates incidents between staff and juveniles; maintains records and prepares reports.
Employees are responsible for supervision and control of physically hostile and aggressive juveniles who may present a hazard to life and property if appropriate intervention or security precautions are not followed. Individuals in this position are required to supervise personal hygiene activities including those involving toilet and shower. Schedules include weekend work and rotating shifts. Response to emergency situations within 30 minutes at all times is required.
This position involves the ability to observe, hear and communicate orally with juveniles; intervene and control juveniles' assaultive and aggressive behavior toward themselves and others; lift, transfer, and care for juveniles in emergency situations such as in fire evacuation from a two-story dormitory, or in an accident where first aid/CPR must be administered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Applicant's who are not currently POST certified will be asked to complete the following, including the IMPACT ASSESSMENT, providing additional documentation for the POST certification process and completing the IDJC POST Comprehensive Application.
IMPACT ASSESSMENT: Applicants must be willing to take the IMPACT Assessment examination and receive a passing score to be considered for this position. The assessment is designed to test skills and attitude, measuring the overall suitability needed to work with juvenile offenders. It consists of two parts: A Human Relations Video Test (76 questions over 75 minutes) and a Reading Test (31 questions over 15 minutes).

If selected for an interview, applicants will be required to bring to the interview:
Completed IDJC Comprehensive Application for Certification. Applicants will be given the website address to retrieve the application form when scheduled for the IMPACT Assessment. If the application is not completed and turned in at the time the IMPACT Assessment is taken, then it must be completed and brought to the interview in a sealed envelope. Applicants not providing the IDJC Comprehensive application by the time of the interview will not be allowed proceed further in the hiring process. This document will be kept in Human Resources for 90 days after the end of the hiring process. The IDJC Comprehensive application for those applicants who are not offered a job will be destroyed after the 90 day period
