Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Activity Therapy Department as a Rehabilitation Program Specialist who coordinates and controls a specific component of a major rehabilitation program.

The Rehabilitation Program Specialist plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH's values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in rehabilitation services plus one of the following:

A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in rehabilitation services, social services, human resources, or education; OR

A bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling; OR

A masters degree.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement activities of the Work Therapy Program for adult chronic psychiatric patients at onsite locations as part of the Activity Therapy Day Program.
  • Develop and implement procedures for specific components of the Work Therapy Program to include job descriptions, job task analysis, time and motion studies for the evaluation of patients while performing jobs.
  • Perform needs assessments of patients and make job adjustments accordingly.
  • Coordinate with Louisiana Vocational Rehabilitation to provide mandatory career counseling and information about training opportunities to workers paid subminimum wages per the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Participate in the review and revision of hospital policies and procedures in relation to special wage and labor laws to ensure compliance with changes in federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate patient progress and write progress notes in the medical record according to department and medical record guidelines; complete summaries of patients progress for treatment plan updates.
  • Assist in providing a variety of activities both on and off grounds with groups of adult psychiatric patients designed to assist patients in exploring and developing leisure interests and skills.

Compensation: This position has a Minimum Hire Rate of $24.57 hourly ($1965.60 bi-weekly)

Schedule: M-F; 8:00am - 4:30pm
