Job Description:
OVERVIEW
The Pet CORE Food Regulatory Specialist role ensures General Mills North America Pet products are legally registered and reported to state regulatory agencies. Additionally, this person may engage in registration processes for product import and export.
This position provides regulatory support and guidance working across all functions. They will communicate frequently within the Pet Regulatory department, but also provide information to key cross functional counterparts in supply chain, marketing, sales, finance and legal. External communication with regulators will occur through the product registration process. Countries in Scope: United States of America, Canada, Mexico, and Australia.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Pet Food Compliance:
- Register pet products (e.g., pet food, treats, etc) with each U.S. state where the products will be sold
- Submit product labels, ingredient lists, nutritional data, and other documentation for approval to state regulatory agencies (often Departments of Agriculture)
- Track and renew product registrations annually or as required by each state
- As needed, complete follow up with states on label issues and registration questions with support from the Pet Regulatory Team
- Provide technical guidance, product testing and documentation for product registrations
Documentation and Recordkeeping
- Manage, maintain and improve detailed records of product registrations, approvals, tonnage reports, and communications with regulatory agencies
- Use spreadsheets, databases, or regulatory software to manage submissions and deadlines
- Facilitate processes related to registration payments including PO creation, check requests, and invoice management
- Monitor United States Pet formula tracking to inform export registration requirements
- Partner with Global Trade on product imports documentation requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field
- 1-3+ years of similar experience in the food or pet food industry
- Attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work well under time pressure and multitask
- Good listening, collaboration, and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret legal and regulatory documents
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of similar experience in the food or pet food industry
- Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and food safety for pet food products is preferred
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
- International relocation or international remote working arrangements will not be considered.
