About the organization:
Our client is a Washington DC Law Firm and they are seeking an Associate Managing Director with 2-5 years of natural resources and water policy experience to join our growing Regulatory, Public Policy and Government Affairs Practice. Expected responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Supporting the our client's Federal Public Policy team of on all their clients and projects related to natural resources and water policy issues, tracking developments on legislation and regulations, and advising on related strategy
  • Engaging with federal agencies and congressional staff, attending hearings, conducting research, drafting client materials, and supporting pitches
  • Strengthening the growth and management of client relationships in the political government affairs spheres
  • Assisting with other public policy and government affairs matters, and business development efforts as needed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Has excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to effectively communicate practical ideas and solutions through concise written work product
  • Is organized, efficient, and able to prioritize, delegate, and manage complex and detail-oriented assignments
  • Understands the importance of client service and exhibits confidence and diplomacy
  • Embraces teamwork, bipartisanship, and values collaboration

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-5 years of regulatory, public policy or government affairs experience required
  • Background or experience handling natural resources and water policy issues required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A bachelor's degree in political science, economics, or related field preferred; an advanced degree is a plus
  • California ties, including previous experience working for a California congressional office, preferred


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • This position is generally performed in a professional office setting; 70% sitting, 20% standing, and 10% walking
  • This position routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptops, computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, in a home office as well as an in-person office environment.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 20 pounds.
