What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Regulated Waste Supervisor to join the LFP Cell Manufacturing Operations Team. This role will support the regulated waste operations and compliance programs within Tesla's manufacturing facility in Sparks, NV. Reporting to the Manufacturing Operations leader, the role will be responsible for the performance of Technicians tasked with the collection and handling of cell manufacturing waste in compliance with Tesla Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and federal, state, and local regulations. The role will also be responsible for overseeing small-scale spill cleanup.
What You'll Do
Supervise duties of regulated waste technicians across 24/7 operation
Train technicians on proper OSHA safety guidelines, State and Federal Regulations pertaining to Hazardous Waste Disposal, and Department of Transportation regulations for proper loading, marking, handling, and transporting of hazardous material materials
Conduct risk assessments on hazardous materials and coordinate storage and handling of waste
Track hazardous, universal, and non-hazardous waste generation, storage and disposal for Tesla as required by local, state, and federal law
Advise and coordinate spill response activities
Teach, train and coach employees and contractors on fundamental EHS concepts and principles to reduce risk, execute EHS requirements, and engage through EHS improvement processes
What You'll Bring
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience supervising personnel
5 + years of waste management, hazardous materials, or related fields
Proficiency with EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
Essential Physical Demands:
The ability to carry up to 50 lbs. up and down stairs
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Ability to wear quality protective equipment (QPE) including full gown, shoe/boot covers, face mask, beard cover, gloves, and hair net
Exposures to hazardous materials and ability to follow waste handling/disposal procedures
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, half-face respirators, powered air-purifying respirators (PAPRs) and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
