DEFINITION OF POSITION Safely operate a school bus under all types of weather conditions including but not limited to fog rain hail sleet ice and snow. Transport students and other authorized persons over regular to and from school routes and on field extracurricular and special activity trips as authorized by the school district.IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Transportation SupervisorREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBe 21 years old or olderHigh school diploma or GEDHave a minimum of three years driving experiencePossess or be able to obtain a valid state driver&rsquos license with appropriate endorsements CDL-B with air restriction removed passenger endorsement and &ldquoS&rdquo endorsementReimbursement will be provided for the cost of obtaining a CDL.Meet the physical and mental standards as set forth by the Department of Licensing necessary to perform duties tasks and responsibilities of a school bus driverPossess or be able to obtain and maintain a current First AidCPR cardTake and pass a drug and alcohol test as required by the school district and federal requirementsSufficient strength and agility to assist ill or physically impaired students and all other students in evacuating an overturned busAbility to lift 50 poundsHearing sufficient to detect and distinguish traffic sounds from any direction outside the bus such as horns sirens trains etc. from a distance which will allow adequate time for defensive or evasive action to avoid hazardous situationsSufficient command of the English language to communicate with students parents district staff members and other members of the publicESSENTIAL JOB RELATED ACTIVITIESAttend and satisfactorily complete required bus driver training course and evaluationOperate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington and policies established by the state and School DistrictDrive a school bus on a scheduled route andor all types of trips in support of district approved activities both within and outside the school districtOperate all hand and foot controls installed in a school bus as required by Washington State minimum school bus specificationsOperate and service all school bus equipment and accessories including but not limited to fire extinguishers highway warning kits chains sanders first aid kits etc.Clean inspect and service the school bus and related equipment as required by the state and district policy to include but not limited to interior and exterior sweeping and washing fueling checking oil coolant tire inflation etc.Perform required operational and safety inspections of school buses and all related equipment dailyLegible and accurate completion of forms records and reports as required by the state andor school district including but not limited to time sheets trip logs trouble reports misconduct and accident reports and others as may be required.Attend all trainings and information meetings as required.Perform basic first aidCPR as needed and appropriateMaintain control of student passengers as related to safetyReport unsafe acts or conditions which required the attention of any person other than the driverWork positively with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organizationWork with colleagues in a collaborative manner and is a positive team builderMeet multiple demands in a pressure situation and maintain high levels of quality workMaintain confidentialityDeal with the public other agencies and district employees in a positive and productive mannerCommunicate clearly orally and in writingWork with minimal supervision and be flexiblePerform other school bus driver related duties as directed by supervisorsTERMS OF CONTRACTSalary Trainee 17.13 per hour On-Call Driver & Regular Route Driver 27.49 - 32.16 per hourLength of Contract Hoursdays varyBenefitsLeaves Medical dental vision life and long-term disability coverage is provided through SEBB School Employee Benefits Board for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.
