Job Title: Patient Registration Clerk (Bilingual – Spanish/English) Location: Salinas, CA- 93901 Employment Type: 13 week+ Contract Schedule: Varied Shifts (Flexible hours required during training and orientation) Pay: $25/hr - W2 Job Overview: The Patient Registration Clerk works under the supervision of the Director, Assistant Director, or Shift Supervisor and performs specialized patient registration duties following established policies and procedures. This role involves gathering patient demographic and financial information, entering data into the hospital system, preparing registration documentation, and ensuring accurate patient identification and records. This position requires a professional and compassionate approach when interacting with patients and families, as many individuals may be experiencing stress or discomfort during hospital visits. Key Responsibilities Greet patients, families, and visitors in a courteous, professional, and respectful manner. Interview patients or their representatives to collect accurate demographic and personal information. Enter patient data into the hospital computer system to initiate care and treatment. Obtain patient financial information and verify insurance coverage. Request and collect copies of insurance cards, Medicare cards, or Medi-Cal cards. Contact physicians’ offices to obtain authorization numbers when required. Prepare and process initial paperwork for patient charts and medical records. Create patient identification labels and ID bands. Verify patient identity using valid photo identification. Determine and document primary and secondary payer information. Monitor and process patient transfers and bed swaps when applicable. Ensure all patient information is accurate and complete. Follow federal and state regulations related to healthcare directives and patient rights. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Minimum 1 year of data entry and medical office experience Bilingual in English and Spanish (Read, Write, Speak) Experience with patient registration and demographic data collection Strong computer and data entry skills Knowledge of medical office procedures and patient intake processes Preferred Skills: Experience obtaining patient financial and insurance information Familiarity with hospital registration systems Experience preparing patient documentation and paperwork Knowledge of patient transfer and bed management processes
