GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Registration Clerk registers and pre-registers patients for hospital and clinic services. S/he obtains demographic, financial, pre-certification or authorization information. JOB DUTIES: • Provide prompt and accurate service to promote high standards and quality • Collect deductibles, co-insurance and non-covered charges as outlined by policy • Answer incoming calls and visits regarding patient accounts; explains financial policies to patients • Research account issues; correct and/or initiate correction of errors • Initiate outgoing telephone contact with patients for payments and payment arrangements • Assist registration and medical records as necessary • Prepare standard registration/admission forms for patients or transfer related tasks • Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy The Registration Clerk assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
