Job Summary and Qualifications 


JOB SUMMARY 


 


Under the direct supervision of the Director, CSO, and according to hospital policies and procedures, the Enterstomal Therapy/Wound Care Nurse provides direct care for people with fecal and urinary diversions and wound care management. Acting within the scope of nursing practice, the person in this position will consult with other members of the health care team in the management of acute and chronic wounds, and will be actively involved in the management and prevention of pressure ulcers. Staff education and policy management is also an integral part of the position. 


What qualifications you will need: 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS  


Required:  


  1. Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must: 


  • apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire,  


  • obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license 


Required Upon Hire  Required within 90 days   Required within 6 months  



 


  1. Current BLS for Healthcare Providers with American Heart Association 


Required Upon Hire (for certifications only: upon hire is defined as within 2 business days of start date)

  1. CWOCN – Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse with Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB)

Preferred:   


  1. Current ACLS certification or 1 year after date of hire 


  1. Demonstrate expertise in the field of ET nursing and/or Wound Care Certification
