What Youll Do

Provide high-acuity nursing care to adult surgical and medical ICU patients
Manage critically ill patients requiring complex monitoring and interventions
Support care for diagnoses such as STEMI, DKA, respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, and neuro/surgical conditions
Perform and maintain care for critical equipment and lines, including ventilator management, CVL management/placement, and arterial line management
Assist with airway and respiratory support, including intubation/extubation as needed
Manage medication therapy, including IV med titration and vasoactive drip management
Provide comprehensive care coordination, including foley catheter management and tube feedings via NGT/PEG
Support stroke-focused care, including required NIHSS competency and stroke-related responsibilities
(If required) Complete unit compliance steps such as an EKG competency exam prior to arrival

What You Need
Required

RN license (not specified by state in the job order)
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Minimum 2 years ICU experience
2 years of perm staff RN experience in acute care
Experience with at least several of the following:
- Ventilator management
- Assist with intubation/extubation
- CVL management/placement
- Foley management
- Tube feedings (NGT/PEG)
- IV med titration
- Vasoactive drip management
- Art line management
- EVD drains (as part of required experience)

Preferred

Stroke experience
Comfort caring for a mix of cardiac and neuro ICU patients

About the Assignment
Youll work in a 20-bed ICU caring for an average of 16 patients/day, serving adult surgical and medical ICU populations. The unit supports critically ill patients with common conditions including respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, and neuro/surgical needs, and uses Meditech Expanse with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing. Charge RN on Days has no patient assignment, with strong multidisciplinary support including RT 24/7 and hospitalist 24/7.
