Immediate Registered Nurse (RN) - Wound Care contract opportunity in Brooklyn, NY (Brownsville).

Note: RN needs to have Hands On and Pressure Injury experience and MUST HAVE: Wound care certificate

Pay Rate: $85.00/hr


Work Schedule:

  • Days - 5x8 Hours
  • Occasionally work holiday and/or weekend hours.

Contract Details:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • End Date: 13 week contract (possible extension)

Job Details

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care, including focused physical exams; develop individualized plans of care based on diagnosis and patient needs, and recommend appropriate treatments.
  • Contribute to the development, revision, and ongoing evaluation of clinical standards of care.
  • Assess and document patient responses to treatment for wounds, ostomies, continence issues, fistulas, and complex wound cases; monitor and evaluate the quality of care delivered by clinical staff.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader healthcare team, making referrals to other disciplines as needed to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate and counsel patients and families, empowering them to manage and prevent complications related to ostomies, wounds, and continence conditions.
  • Perform routine, comprehensive risk assessments for pressure injuries and implement preventive interventions.
  • Actively participate in unit, department, and hospital-wide Quality Improvement initiatives, including incidence/prevalence studies and nursing quality programs.
  • Deliver culturally competent education to patients, families, and staff, respecting diverse cultural, ethnic, religious, and personal belief systems.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and data security standards in compliance with patient rights policies.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by floating to other units as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in Epic electronic health record systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Active New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse license.
  • One of the following certifications:
    • Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON), issued by the WOCNCB
    • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN), issued by the WOCNCB
    • Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), issued by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM)
    • Wound Care Certified (WCC), issued by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO)
