Responsible and accountable for providing placement of vascular access devices within the inpatient and outpatient hospital setting.  In addition, collaborates with nursing and medical staff to determine the most appropriate candidates for PICC, Midline and Peripheral IV insertions and provides clinical staff with education relative to care and maintenance of the PICC lines, Midlines and Peripheral IVs. Provides direct nursing care including assessment, plan of care, education, and evaluation for assigned patients during admission, discharge, or transfer settings, while supporting patient throughput.

Required Skills
  • Knowledgeable in the legal aspects of nursing.
  • Completes all needed competencies in PICC, Power Glide and US PIV placements.
  • Completes competency in 3cg tip confirmation.
  • Recognizes and assists in the treatment of medication reactions and documents appropriately.


Required Experience

Required:

  • Current California RN license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Two (2) years clinical experience in an acute care nursing setting.
  • Evidence of continuing education and self-development.

 

Preferred:

  • Preferred vascular access experience.
  • BSN
