SUMMARY
This position is filled by a registered nurse who, as a result of educational, clinical, and leadership experience in critical care nursing, possesses the advanced knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide expert nursing care; applies expert knowledge to act as a change agent, role model and leader; coordinates the care of patients; ensures quality focused and cost-effective care delivery outcomes; utilizes theory, research, and specialized knowledge to plan care for the patient; functions within a collaborative practice to enhance quality of care; interprets, evaluates and communicates research findings; and participates in continuous quality improvement activities. Able to demonstrate excellent critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills. Responsible and accountable for direct patient care. Responsible and accountable for the care given to the patient. Must be proficient in a wide variety of high level nursing skills. Responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and promoting a team effort among co-workers. Responsible and accountable to know, own and energize the vision, mission, values and standards of the hospital. Responsible for patient care, medications and sterilization techniques necessary in the cath lab.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for planning, organizing delivering and coordinating patient care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established policies, procedures: for coordinating care among patient/family, medicine, nursing, ancillary, and other team personnel. RN acts as patient advocate and maintains current knowledge and standards of professional nursing practice. Assists the physician with procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab including cardiovascular studies/interventions as well as Special Procedure studies/interventions. Demonstrated competence and knowledge of general, intensive, and critical care nursing theory and practice as evidenced by a minimum of one year of emergency, cath lab, interventional radiology or critical care experience or two years cardiac step-down experience preferred. Knowledge and competence in Intra-Aortic Balloon pump, hemodynamics and vasoactive infusions is preferred.
