Come join a great team at State Hospital West (SHW). We are seeking temporary Registered Nurses at SHW located in Nampa. SHW is a 16-bed Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Hospital for adolescents between 11 and 18 years old nestled between Ridgecrest and Centennial golf courses on a picturesque piece of state property along the Nampa Interstate 84 corridor. SHW provides psychiatric inpatient treatment care for Idahos adolescent citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living and is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and certified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

This position also requires applicants to become certified in CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Employees will be required to work weekends, holidays, and day shifts. This position is not eligible for telework.

Temporary positions are limited to working 1385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency. Employees are eligible for benefits if they work 20 hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five continuous months.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Incumbents carry out charge RN responsibilities in addition to skilled nursing. This includes:

  • Providing professional nursing care and determining the need for and arranging professional consultations.
  • Abiding by standards of nursing practice and unit and institution policies and procedures.
  • Facilitating the completion of required nursing records.
  • Performing professional nursing that may include: • Client assessment • Care plan development • Health education • Clinical activities • Case management • Direct nursing services
