What Your Days Look Like
You’ll provide nursing support within the school setting, including:
- Providing nursing care for a student with complex respiratory needs throughout the school day
- Monitoring health status and responding to changes in condition
- Managing tracheostomy and ventilator-related care according to physician orders and care plans
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
- Assessing and responding to illness, injuries, or medical emergencies during the school day
- Maintaining accurate health records and documenting care provided
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support the student’s health and educational goals
- Serving as a health resource for school staff and assisting with health-related needs as appropriate
Program Details
This position is primarily focused on supporting a student who requires ongoing tracheostomy care throughout the school day.
This role offers the opportunity to build a meaningful, long-term relationship with a student and school community while providing consistent nursing support throughout the school year.

The (Required) Qualifications
To practice safely and compliantly, we do need:
- Active, unrestricted Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care strongly preferred
- Experience working with pediatric patients, school settings, or medically complex individuals preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with students, families, and school staff
- BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) within 90 days of hire
- Background check and fingerprinting will be required for this role
