Major Responsibilities:
Leadership & Staff Development
Program Management & Instruction
Quality Improvement & Compliance
Leads the implementation of evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives, including:
Hypertension in Pregnancy (HTN)
Optimizing Newborn Nutrition
Cardiac Conditions in Obstetrical Care (CCOC)
Ensures compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and current clinical guidelines.
Develops and evaluates quality metrics for perinatal education programs.
Georgia Perinatal Quality Collaborative (GaPQC) Initiative Implementation
Operational & Financial Oversight
Collaboration & Community Engagement

Work is performed in a clinical and classroom environment requiring the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic setting. The role requires frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout clinical and educational spaces, as well as the ability to bend, reach, squat, kneel, and transition between positions to support operational and instructional activities.
The individual must possess sufficient strength and mobility to assist with patient handling when providing direct clinical support, including repositioning, transfers, and movement of equipment or supplies, consistent with safe patient handling practices and organizational policy. For patient lifts exceeding 35 pounds, or when the patient is unable to assist, patient handling equipment is expected to be used with at least one other associate when available. Unique patient lifting and movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The role requires adequate visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity to observe patients, operate equipment, and perform assigned responsibilities. The individual must be able to respond promptly to changes in patient or class conditions, manage competing priorities, and maintain composure in stressful or unplanned situations. Work may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and high noise levels. Appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to infection prevention and safety protocols are required at all times.
Must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends as required to support class and program coverage. All duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation, consistent with applicable law and organizational policy.
This role includes direct and indirect clinical exposure. The individual may be present in active patient care areas and is expected to adhere to all infection prevention protocols, utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow organizational safety and clinical practice standards at all times. Potential exposures include blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, noxious substances, and high-acuity clinical situations consistent with a perinatal and maternal-child care environment.

The Perinatal Education Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive perinatal education programs. This role ensures high-quality, evidence-based education for patients, families, and staff, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and supporting maternal and neonatal quality improvement initiatives, including Georgia Perinatal Quality Collaborative (GaPQC) programs.
