Our Perioperative Services Department provides the majority of surgical care for Cochise County, supporting a wide range of specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, urology, gynecology, podiatry, spine, vascular, and endoscopy. We are proud to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across the surgical continuum.

This is a dynamic and rewarding environment that offers meaningful work, strong teamwork, and ongoing opportunities for learning and professional growth. Our team is highly collaborative, with a shared focus on safety, efficiency, and excellent patient outcomes.

Perioperative Services is a great place to work, with schedules that are generally Monday through Friday, consisting of four 10-hour shifts. Some call coverage is required to support after-hours and urgent patient needs. The pace can be fast and at times demanding, but it is also highly fulfilling for those who enjoy hands-on care and being part of a dedicated surgical team.

 

How You'll Contribute

A PACU RN who excels in this role: 

  • Performs duties as assigned and requested.
  • Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient's condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
  • Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope.
  • Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors.
  • Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly.
  • Educates patients and families on disease processes and recovery expectations.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.

What we're looking for:

Applicants should have a current Arizona or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must have an active Arizona or Compact RN License.
  • BLS required.
  •  ACLS, PALS certifications are required within 1 year of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred
